Insolation Solar recently completed a large-scale residential solar panel installation, delivering a high-capacity system designed to significantly reduce energy costs while providing full home backup capability. Project Overview

The homeowner was looking to invest in a premium solar PV system that could dramatically reduce electricity costs while also providing backup power in the event of a grid outage. With sufficient roof space available, the system was designed to maximise generation and support high levels of energy consumption.

Following a detailed consultation and system design process, Insolation Solar installed a high-output solar array paired with Tesla battery storage to create a fully integrated energy solution.

System Design and Installation

This installation features a 15.2kW solar PV system made up of 32 AIKO Neostar all black panels, carefully configured to optimise solar generation throughout the day. The system design was tailored to the property’s layout and orientation to ensure maximum performance and efficiency.

The scale of the system allows for significantly higher energy production compared to standard residential installations, making it ideal for properties with increased electricity usage or future energy requirements such as electric vehicles or home extensions.

All work was completed by Insolation Solar’s in-house team, ensuring a high standard of workmanship and a reliable, long-lasting installation.

Battery Storage and Backup Power

A key feature of this project is the integration of a 27kWh Tesla Powerwall 3 system, supported by an expansion pack and Tesla Gateway. This advanced battery setup enables the homeowner to store a large proportion of the energy generated and use it when needed, greatly reducing reliance on the grid.

In addition to improving energy efficiency, the Tesla Gateway provides full home backup functionality. In the event of a power cut, the system automatically switches to battery power, ensuring the property remains fully operational without interruption.

With an estimated annual generation of 10,509kWh, this system delivers exceptional performance. It is predicted to reduce the homeowner’s electricity bill by approximately 96 percent, offering substantial long-term savings.

This solar PV system provides a strong environmental benefit by significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The energy generated is equivalent to planting 56 trees each year, avoids the use of approximately 927 litres of petrol, and prevents around 1,053kg of coal from being burned annually.
