Celebrating 150 Years of the Beacon Centre for the Blind at the Beacon of Light Ball
On Friday 19th September 2025, the Insolation Solar team had the pleasure of attending the Beacon of Light Ball, a very special event marking 150 years of the Beacon Centre for the Blind. As one of the oldest charities in England, the Beacon Centre has been making a life-changing difference in the community for over a century, and it was an honour for our team to be part of such a milestone celebration.
The Beacon of Light Ball was the highlight of the charity’s anniversary celebrations and it was truly a night to remember. We enjoyed an elegant evening filled with entertainment, fundraising and community spirit, all in aid of raising awareness and support for the sight loss community across the region. For us, it was not only a chance to reflect on the Beacon Centre’s rich history but also an opportunity to look ahead and celebrate the positive changes they continue to bring to people’s lives.
Our team had a fantastic evening joining supporters, partners and friends of the charity to mark this remarkable milestone. There was a wonderful atmosphere throughout the night, and our Managing Director, Howard, even came away with a prize – a brilliant surprise that topped off an unforgettable evening.
Supporting the Beacon Centre with Solar Energy
Beyond the celebrations, Insolation Solar is proud to have supported the Beacon Centre on its journey towards sustainability. In 2024, we designed and installed a large commercial solar system at the charity’s headquarters. The 93kW system included 225 solar panels and is expected to generate around 80,000 kWh of renewable energy each year. Environmentally, this is the equivalent of planting 1,462 trees annually, helping the Beacon Centre significantly reduce its carbon footprint.
The system is already helping the charity lower its energy bills, which means more funds can be directed to the vital services they provide. It is a step that reflects the Beacon Centre’s innovative spirit and commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future.
A Word from the Beacon Centre
We were delighted to receive such positive feedback from Victoria Wilcox at the Beacon Centre following the installation.
“We recently had solar panels installed at Beacon Centre for the Blind by Insolation Solar, a local business based in Wombourne. From the start, the team was incredibly friendly and organised, making the process smooth and stress-free. They were knowledgeable, answering all our questions with clear explanations and providing us with confidence in our decision to go green.”
Looking Ahead
We are incredibly proud to have supported such an inspiring charity that has been at the heart of the community for 150 years. Celebrating this milestone at the Beacon of Light Ball was a privilege, and we look forward to seeing how both the charity’s work and their new solar system continue to make a difference in the years to come.
At Insolation Solar, we are passionate about helping local charities, businesses and households make the switch to renewable energy. By choosing solar, our customers save money, reduce their environmental impact and take meaningful steps towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
